Arumemi lost battle to reclaim Arik as AMCON owed N297.3b There are indications that the battle by erstwhile owner and founder of Arik Air, Sir Arumemi Johnson-Ikhide to reclaim the airline has collapsed. This follows the inability of the ailing airline to wriggle out of a settlement condition it entered with Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) as precondition for taking back the carrier after a protracted operations that marred an impressive beginning. AMCON came in to salvage Arik Air from imminent drop following a debt burden totaling about N297.3 billion and a depleting fleet that could not guarantee operations for the carrier. Battle to reclaim the airline by Johnson-Ikhide, started about a year ago, after Arik Air was taken over in 2016 by the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), over reported N300b debts.
