Oshodi/Isolo LGEA Pupils from Monsuru Agoro Primary School, Shines At The 25th National JETS Competition, Takes Third Position


It was a moment of cheering and loud ovation as pupils of Monsuru Agoro pry school, Mafoluku,Oshodi in Oshodi/Isolo LGEA, Miss Unique Emmanuel and Miss Adeyemi Sarah represented Lagos State in the Free Choice primary project category takes overall third position in Nigeria after coming 1st in the State Selection. It caught no one unawares as Lagos state pupils especially Oshodi/Isolo LGEA pupils have always triumphed taking the lead in every National competition, under the leadership of Lagos state Governor Babajide Sanwoolu.

The 25th National JETS Competition took place at National Mathematics Centre, Kwali,  Abuja. It is an annual competition organized by the Federal Ministry of Education,  department of Science and Technology.  This year's  Theme;   "The role of Science,Technology and Innovation in recycling waste and utilization for sustainable socio-economic development in Nigeria" The pupils who represented  LASUBEB with the project titled " Air Quality and Temperature monitoring system"  returned home with awards and prizes having performed excellently as overall first in Lagos and third position in Nigeria respectively.

The Desk Officer Co Curricular, Mrs Lawal Obiageli Constance, who was the project coordinator  was part of the team that guided the pupils to the the competition described the event as a laudable one urged parents to key into the initiative by registering and encouraging their children to attend public school because it provides best form of education as well as prepares the pupil  beyond the book for future life achievements. She also beckons on the head teachers and teachers as well to encourage their schools/pupils to participate so that they can benefit from the numerous reward and opportunity such competition affords the pupil's.

The coach of the pupils, Mr.Ogunjimi Oluwaseun Ayinde says "Objective of the competition was to help the children grow holistically as competitions helps the children develop confidence in themselves and makes them better public speakers something they will not get from books. There is so much moral decadence and we need to use this medium to channel them to the right direction. We need  to catch them young starting from this early stage before they become teenagers and young adults, with good foundation, they would grow up to become asserts and great human resources to our community, state and ultimately Nigeria as a country.

Miss Unique Emmanuel and Miss Sarah Adeyemi, the pupils of Monsuru Agoro, primary school, Mafoluku, Oshodi Isolo who represented Lagos State  in the competition said: “We are happy for taking the first and third position in Lagos State and National respectively, we thank our teachers the organisers of the National JETS competition organizers for the opportunity and urge them to continue encouraging children at all levels in Science education.

On a final note; The Education Secretary, Hon. Mayowa Alakija thanked the staff who guided and prepared these pupils to a glorious victory. He also encouraged them to do more and bring more success home. He also promised to ensure that the pupils meet with Oshodi/Isolo LGA Chairman Hon. Kehinde Oloyede Almoroof, Isolo LCDA Chairman; Hon. Bayo Olasoju and Ejigbo LCDA Chairman; Monsurudeen Bello. It is pertinent we encourage these pupils so as to continue with the excellent performance. He is looking forward to more excellent performance in the forthcoming Lagos State schools quiz, debate and essay.
