Arumemi lost battle to reclaim Arik as AMCON owed N297.3b There are indications that the battle by erstwhile owner and founder of Arik Air, Sir Arumemi Johnson-Ikhide to reclaim the airline has collapsed. This follows the inability of the ailing airline to wriggle out of a settlement condition it entered with Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) as precondition for taking back the carrier after a protracted operations that marred an impressive beginning. AMCON came in to salvage Arik Air from imminent drop following a debt burden totaling about N297.3 billion and a depleting fleet that could not guarantee operations for the carrier. Battle to reclaim the airline by Johnson-Ikhide, started about a year ago, after Arik Air was taken over in 2016 by the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), over reported N300b debts. The Scar of Our Democratic Struggles - The Testimony of Jimlas Otunba Kayode Fasae, popularly called, Jimlas, was a high flying Banking Executive who was very successfull, with a career that was taking him to the top echelon of his organisation. He was also a well known philanthropist, who cared about widows, orphans and the needy. He decided to wade through the murky waters of politics, seeking for a wider platform to serve his people. On June 1st,2018, standing behind Dr John Kayode Fayemi at a political event, a shot rang and that was all he heard, as the bullet nicked through his belly, close to his chest.
